Paleo Basics

The Paleo Diet (although I hate to call it a diet because it isn’t simply about losing weight) is based on eating wholesome food similar to our hunter-gatherer ancestors during the Paleolithic era. These foods include fresh fish and seafood, meats (preferably grass fed or free range beef, pork, lamb, poultry), fresh fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, and healthful oils (olive, coconut, avocado, macadamia, walnut and flaxseed). In season and local products are best but It’s almost impossible to find a juicy strawberry in London in February….or fruit of any kind. Dairy products, cereal grains, legumes, refined sugars and processed foods are not part of the Paleo menu.

Throughout this blog you’ll probably find things here and there that aren’t technically Paleo (like dark chocolate and most kinds of alcohol, among other things) but being healthy is also about being happy and sometimes there’s nothing better than a soya latte from Starbucks.
